GRANTED... but the day becomes too long and nobody can stay awake for long enough, so the day is split in two, with everybody taking a nap halfway through. Owned

I wish channel 7 would put Heroes back on at 7.30pm instead of 11pm

I dont think i will be working on this anytime soon if at all

@zimbi: if you want you can finish it off

WHATT?? Are you serious!? It was awesome and you were nearly finished it!

I haven't worked on PathFinder, Pen Ball or KYLGR for ages, but i'm not giving up on them!
BTW, the guys at my new school like them a lot.

How about you post an executable on here so I can see how much you've done. Just reply to this post and use the Attachment control below the main text input area.
Make sure its in some kind of compressed file first. It doesn't like .exe's

Also, you should make a topic about ur new computer.

Hiya guys,

My new computer finally arrived! ~11/Jan/09. Check it out:

From NextStep Computers

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz processor - Dual core processing, not quad. Quad costs too much
Black X-Tec CSXT-7003B tower case - Looks cool, but I can't find anything on the internet about X-Tec. Weird
Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR motherboard - Who needs crossfire with only one card? Hmm, not the one they told me I was getting originally...
Seagate 1TB SATA hard drive - Plenty of space
2 x LG DVD-RW burners - Two drives for on-the-fly burning (both are burners cos they didn't have any plain DVD readers)
Elixir 2GB DDR3 RAM stick - Fast RAM for gaming performance
Windows XP PRO operating system - Vista sucks. I'm just waiting for Windows 7
Wise PCI card for 4 extra USB ports - The 10 ports provided by the case just aren't enough for me
ASUS Radeon 4870 512mb pcie2.0 graphics card - The ultimate graphics card for ultimate gaming! I would've got the 4870X2, if i had more money
800W power PSU - Plenty of juice for the power-hungry graphics card
1000W power PSU - Hopefully now provides plenty of juice for the very power-hungry graphics card
600W power PSU - Now works fine with my system. The original 800watt one turned out to be unstable

total - AU $1580

It's awesome, I know laugh.gif

It's a bit weird that NextStep's website is rated as a dangerous website because of it's terrible vendor reliability score on Web of Trust.

EDIT:Hmm, I've been having some overheating problems. Well, it only does it when i'm playing a high graphics game, yet it turns the whole machine off. So i figured that it was not a graphics card fault because there would just be all this shit on the screen. When it did overheat, I noticed that the PSU was really hot (which if it was a PSU fault, turning off would make sense). I then looked at air flow inside the box, and found that the PSU got the air it cools itself with, through the bottom of it (from inside the computer). Because the graphics card was being used heavily, it heated up, so its fan cooled it down (making the air inside the computer hot), then the PSU got really hot air that it was trying to cool down with (just making it hotter and causing it to turn off for safety).
So i reckon i need another fan on the case.

EDIT:NextStep took the computer back and installed two new fans but the problem still occurred. So they took them out and put in a huge fan, but that didn't help either. They kept it for a few more days to determine what the problem really was, since the massive fan couldn't fix it. The next day, I rang them to check how it was going (because they never got back to me), and they had discovered that the PSU was not providing enough power for when the graphics card was being heavily used (cos it's so awesome). They tested it with a 1000watt and a 1200watt PSU. They said that the 1200watt PSU gave BioShock a brighter background while they were testing it. They wanted me to pay AU $270 for the 1200watt one. Thinking that we could convince them to give us it for free, we headed into the shop, but they told us that that was not possible as they had already reduced its price for us (1200watt PSU sold seperately = AU $400). They said that they could only give me the 1000watt one for nothing, and I had to wait another two days for them to thoroughly test it. Being day 4 without my new computer and having just spent EVERY CENT I HAD on it, i was a bit pissed off, but realising that I couldn't earn even close to $270 in two days, I aggreed. I'll update again soon.

EDIT:Sorry for the delay, but I've been absolutely loaded with homework from my new school. A few weeks ago, I went into NextStep and gave them a piece of my mind. They then assured me that it would definetly be ready FOR FREE in a few days. A few days later I was able to go back and pick it up. I'm quite happy now with the 600watt PSU they put in it. They found that the problem was that the X-Tec 800watt one that came with the csae was unstable - from a faulty batch they said.
After that, I had some troubles with my Ubuntu install conflicting with my ability to boot Windows, but that's all good and fixed now thanks to some nice people on the ubuntu forums. I'm just glad that this whole epidemic eventually had a positive outcome, even if I did have to write this edit twice because something went wrong with my forum. Oh well biggrin.gif

Cool, thanks for the assessment.
The navbar links don't work yet because the homepage is the only page that exists at the moment.
Do you have any idea about how i might be able to get the content of the bottom bar (and maybe the navbar) loaded from a text document or something? (without using iframe and i have no idea how to use css)
As I am going to create quite a few pages, if i need to change something, I want to only have to do it once.
Thanks! biggrin.gif

Also, what language(s) will you be doing software development in? - Where can I find a C compiler? (email me)

Pen Ball WIP
by Zimbi co.

Recent updates
Pen Ball was last updated on 20-11-2008 to v0.4

Introduction
Pen Ball is a game designed to be like the game Ink Ball on Windows Vista. Since I don't have Vista, this was very hard to implement. Every time I used a computer with Vista, I had to look at Ink Ball.
Making the drawing engine was the hardest part of all. After 5 of my curved line drawing engines failed, I finaly created one that works so far: Basically, when you have the left mouse button pressed it creates a solid ball-shaped invisible object. This object then draws a line to the previous one (id-1). Simple! :-)
When you start the game, it asks you if you would like to have a skin. Do NOT panic! This DOES NOT mean that if you say no I will come around to your house and flay you alive. It just means: "would you like to have a fancy border on the edge of the game window?". That's all >:-)
BTW, all information about OfficeWorks, and the things that can be purchased there is a lie :'-(
(until I can be bothered adding it into the game, that is).

How to Play
The aim of each level is to get all of the balls into the correct hole. Most of the time, this isn't as easy as it sounds. Some levels require you to get the balls into the holes of their colour, and other levels have devilishly hard layouts! To aid you in this difficult mission, I have provided you with a normal HB pencil. How kind! Along the way, you will also be given the chance to buy new stationary from OfficeWorks.
I thought you might also like to know that the only way that you have a chance of wining this game, is if you actually draw on your screen. I don't mean this literally! I mean with your mouse. Just hold down the left mouse button to use any writing utensil you have purchased or been given. A line (meaning from when you click the left mouse button until you release it), vanishes from the screen when hit by a ball. The ball bounces off it and hopefully heads on its way to the right hole.
Just to let you know, you can only draw a certain amount of lines before your pencil needs to be sharpened. Sharpeners can be purchased from OfficeWorks.

On the OfficeWorks shelves are:
HB pencils (draws up to 100 lines)
HB pencil sharpeners (to fix blunt and useless pencils)
Pencil erasers (to erase lines that have not been hit, that you no longer want - erases up to 100 pencil/pacer lines)
Pacers (refillable, mechanical pencils that use 0.5mm leads)
0.5mm pacer leads (packs of 20 - to refill empty pacers. 1 lead draws -------- lines)
Biros (standard ball-point pens - draws up to 100 lines that can be hit by balls up to 5 times before vanishing)
Biro erasers (to erase lines drawn by biros that have not been hit, that you no longer want)
Permanent markers (draws a line that never vanishes when hit by a ball - be careful!)
Certain items may not be purchased until you have unlocked them (meaning that you have plucked up enough courage to ask an OfficeWorks worker to open the locked display cabinet where the item is held). lol
Each item will explain how to be used once you purchase it.
You may also have noticed that the HB pencils and pacers have small erasers on them. I recommend not using these cheap and nasty erasers, as they just smudge your page (meaning that they're just for show - you can't actually use them).

WARNING: You probably won't be able to beat this game. Although this may dissuade you from playing, be sure that each of the levels ARE actually possible, as I have beaten them :-)

I will probably get around to adding screenshots sometime soon smile.gif

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS - Please post any errors or glitches that you may find here

Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated (coz i've like run out of ideas)

Hello everyone,

I regret to inform you that there has been recent abuse to this board.
Someone used the forum to advertise a product, namely v i a g r a (the word has been changed here, so that search engines will not associate this board with such things).

The topic, post and member have been hereby deleted.

I am just letting you know that there has been a change to the board's terms and conditions to prevent future reoccurances of this.

Thankyou.

Hi everyone,
I have been looking into this for absolutely ages: How to have two logos on an Invision Power Board, just like the GMC.
Now, i have finally found a solution. laugh.gif (Note, this will only work if you have an Invision Power Board forum)

Log into you admin CP, then click on the look & feel tab up the top.
Click on the down button on your default skin and select Edit template html.
Click All Global HTML, then in the new window scroll down to global_board_header and click on it.
In the editor window that appears, find
CODE
<!--ipb.javascript.end-->
and
CODE
<div id="submenu">

Before you make any changes to this, copy everything in the editor window into a text file on your computer and save it somewhere safe, just in case.
Replace the two pieces of code and eveything in between them with the following:
CODE
<!--ipb.javascript.end-->
    <div id="logostrip">

<a href="http://WWW.YOURSITE.COM/"><img src="style_images/NEW_LOGO_RIGHT.jpg" alt="YOUR RIGHT-HAND LOGO"  border="0" style="float: right;"></a>

<a href='{$this->ipsclass->base_url}'><!--ipb.logo.start--><img src='style_images/YOUR-FORUM-LOGO.jpg' alt='IPB' style='vertical-align:top' border='0' /><!--ipb.logo.end--></a>

    <div id="submenu">

Now you need to replace the code in capitals with your own content.
Click save template bit.
Upload the appropriate images to the locations you specified.

DONE!
Have a nice life wink.gif

Hey all! wink.gif

I made this game a few years ago, in year 7 (now i'm in yr 10 as of 2009).

Jumpalump is a game where you play as a guy called Jumpalump who has epilepsy.
One day he heard about a miraculous cure for his epilepsy, and so begins a long and treacherous quest to seek it.
